If you feel like you’ve missed the boat on summer planning, take a deep breath. While the initial February "registration rush" has settled, late March is actually the Golden Window for Oakville families. This is when schedules shift, waitlists move, and final seasonal calls are made.

Quick Tip: Most cancellations and schedule changes happen right after March Break. If your first choice was full in February, now is the time to log back in and check for openings.

1. The Town of Oakville "Iris" System

The Town’s registration for summer camps and swimming officially opened on February 24, 2026. If you are just starting now, don’t panic, but do change your strategy:

Check Availability: Log into the Iris Portal today. Instead of "Registering," you are looking for "Remaining Capacity."

The Power of the Waitlist: Oakville’s waitlists are surprisingly active. As families realize they overbooked or their vacation dates change, spots open up.

Outdoor Pool Perks: Registration for the Coronation Park outdoor pool lessons is notoriously competitive. If you can’t find a spot, look at Bronte College or the Queen Elizabeth Park (QEPCCC) indoor options as backups.

2. Sports League Deadlines (Final Calls!)

Oakville Soccer Club (OSC): Registration for the 2026 Outdoor Recreational Season is currently open. The season kicks off the week of May 19, 2026. Divisions are filling fast, and individual spots are often moved to waitlists by early April.

Oakville Little League: This is truly the final call. Teams were officially being formed as of March 1st. If you want your child on the diamond at Cornwall Park this summer, check their portal immediately for any remaining "House League" or "Challenger Baseball" openings.

3. Culture Days 2026: Urgent Artist Deadline

For the creatives and organizations in our community, there is a major date hitting this weekend. To be included in the Town of Oakville’s official promotion for the September festival, applications are due by Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

This is a fantastic way to showcase your talents at venues like the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts or the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre.

4. Specialized & Private Camps

YMCA of Oakville: Their summer day camp registration (at locations like Peter Gilgan and Palermo Public School) is active. Some weeks in July are already showing waitlists, so check their portal today.

Appleby College: Known for their high-end sports and arts programs, Appleby typically sees a surge in late-March bookings once school calendars are finalized.

STEM & Coding: Look into local providers like Creative Kids Place at Sheridan College, which offers specialized weeks ranging from "Minecraft Architects" to "Swiftie Camp."

Did you get the spots you wanted?
