The Town of Oakville confirms that no election signs of any kind are permitted before September 11, 2026. This date is 45 days before Election Day, which is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026.
However, candidates and campaign teams must also meet the Town’s application and deposit requirements before placing election signs. Election signs may only be placed on designated arterial roadways once an election sign application and deposit have been received.
Where Can Election Signs Go in Oakville?
Election signs in Oakville are subject to specific municipal rules.
According to the Town of Oakville, election signs are restricted to designated arterial roadways only. They are not permitted within road corridors abutting Town-owned facilities.
Signs must also be positioned so they do not:
* Obstruct the view of pedestrians or drivers
* Obstruct the visibility of traffic signs
Appear along the frontage of properties where a *cenotaph** is located
There is also a spacing requirement. Election signs for the same candidate cannot be placed within 10 metres of another election sign for that candidate.
When Can Election Signs Be Put Up?
The Town of Oakville states that no election signs of any kind can be placed until September 11, 2026, regardless of when a candidate’s application is approved.

The Town also states that refunds or applicable invoices to candidates will be issued by mail.
Candidates are responsible, along with their campaign teams or agents, for ensuring that all campaign signage is erected, displayed and maintained in compliance with the Town’s requirements.
